Optimistic nihilism only lads
The universe is an open ended sandbox rpg. There’s no end goal. You can only get achievements. Some of them include making other people happy
The key word here is “optimistic.”
It’s probably true that “meaning” is a social construct. As a member of society, however, we all contribute to that construction. “Life sucks and then you die” is one way to construct it.
But I love the way Barbara Ehrenreich put it in her new book:
“You can think of death bitterly or with resignation … and take every possible measure to postpone it. … Or, more realistically, you can think of life as an interruption of an eternity of personal nonexistence, and seize it as a brief opportunity to observe and interact with the living, ever-surprising world around us.”
Nihilism says it’s your choice how you spend your time here. Choose!
