Please reblog if you think that “they/them/theirs” is a valid set of pronouns.

If singular they/them/theirs was good enough for Chaucer, Shakespeare, and the King James Bible it’s probably good enough for you too.

Note #1: The irony, of course, is that in terms of English-language usage, singular “you” and “your” is a much more recent development and yet you don’t hear “grammar nazis” whining about how we should all be saying “thee” and “thou.”  Didn’t grow up using it ≠ bad “grammar.”

Note #2: On the other hand I reckon I ain’t never going to adoptify “ze,” “zay” or “te” and “tey” or none of those other non-gendered neologisms because they’re ain’t right English. :-)
