Oh, only 101% completely different. It’s IRL, it’s social, it’s PG-13, there’s food and beverages, and there are no gratuitous dick pics. Totally different thing.
A carpenter doesn’t bring her nail gun to a networking event. A dentist doesn’t bring his drills. Same with munches. You’re networking, not kinking out.
As with chamber of commerce meetings you can end up with great connections and may do business with each other later. But it’s about conversation and conviviality, not canoodling.
