my biggest pet peeve is when I call a boy pretty and about six people have their necks swivel all the way around on their shoulders exorcist style just to tell me that boys aren’t pretty they’re handsome

Here’s a little gender tip from a craggy older man who can barely make it to “cute,” let alone pretty:
Men want other men to be handsome and get all freaked out that women like “pretty boys” because men think we have to be “worthy” and earn the attention of women. But women, who aren’t particularly invested in men’s “worthiness trap” actually do like all kinds of men, including very pretty men. This makes men anxious.
TBH it often makes men anxious to be seen as “pretty” because they’re liable to catch hell from other men. “Pretty boy” coming from other straight men is pretty much not a complement
But just like girls can be totally hot with a buzz haircut, ratty jeans, and a sweaty tank top, boys can be pretty as hell… and hot!
