OMG. Cuddling’s great! When I was about 20 or so I took a break from being massively promiscuous and spent a year doing casual hookups for no-sex sleeping. It was awesome!
I was pretty homeless back then, hitch-hiking around the country doing the whole wandering wastrel / starving hippie bit with long hair and a guitar on my back. And I’d come to a realization that one of the reasons i was staying so busy hooking up was that if you had sex with someone, at least back then, you’d sleep together for the rest of the night. And I found that there was a huge difference between the times when I’d sex but not spend the night and the times I’d spend the night but not have sex.
So even then I was a big fan of having sex because you want to have sex and not for other reasons (love, money, peer pressure, power-tripping, etc.) And once I made that cuddling vs sex distinction, well, like I said I spent a year just “hooking up” for sleep. I was always honest about it. And to be honest most of the women I hooked up with were somewhere between intrigued, skeptical, and/or enthusiastic about trying it.
I went back to being my usual promiscuous self after that. Only a year older but so much wiser!
It’s always good to know why you’re having sex.
